COP15第一阶段会议在昆明开幕

The first part of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) kicked off on Monday in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.

10月11日，联合国《生物多样性公约》缔约方大会第十五次会议(COP15)第一阶段会议在云南昆明开幕。

The meeting will last from Oct 11 to 15, with parallel activities featuring forums on topics including climate change and ecological conservation to be held from Oct 14 to 15.

会议举办时间为10月11日至15日，10月14日至15日将举办大会平行活动，包括气候变化和生态保护等主题论坛。

More than 1,800 representatives will gather online and offline for the event.

会议期间，1800多名代表将参加线上线下活动。

The second part of the meeting, which is expected to be held next year, will review and make a decision on the "post-2020 global biodiversity framework" the international community is pinning great hopes on.

第二阶段会议将在明年召开，备受国际社会期待的"2020年后全球生物多样性框架"将在第二阶段会议审议和决定。

China was among the first countries to become a party to the Convention on Biological Diversity that entered into force in 1993.

《生物多样性公约》于1993年正式生效，我国是最早签署和批准公约的国家之一。

So far, the Convention has 196 parties and the Conference of the Parties is the highest mechanism for discussing and making decisions on the Convention.

《生物多样性公约》目前共有196个缔约方，缔约方大会是最高议事和决策机制。
