4. It's not a gun

A man was in a grocery store with his stingy1 friend when two robbers broke in and asked all the people to put up their hands.

As the robbers began searching the boss and other people for money, he felt a nudge2, "Take this," his friend whispered3.

Don't give me a gun, the man whispered back, "I don't want to be a hero."

It's not a gun—it's that twenty-six dollars I owe4 you.

不是枪

一个男子和他的小气朋友正在商店时，两个强盗突然闯进来，命令所有人举起手来。

强盗们开始对商店老板和其他人搜身时，该男子感觉到他朋友推了他一下。“拿着这个，”朋友低声说。

“别给我枪，”该男子也压低声音回答道，“我可不想做英雄”。

“不是枪，是我欠你的26块钱”。

Mean和Stingy都有“小气、吝啬”的意思，但前者主要是指对他人不友善，后者主要指对金钱锱铢必较。因此一个对他人很mean很刻薄的人很可能自己花钱很大方，而一个对金钱很在乎很stingy的人很可能对每个人都很和善。
