徐灿，字湘蘋，又字明霞、明深，江苏吴县（今苏州市吴中区、相城区）人。陈之遴继配。幼颖悟，通书史。陈之遴两次流徙，均曾随行。康熙十年（1671），奉旨归之遴之骨。晚年学佛，更号紫?。早年雅好吟咏，尤喜为词。被词人陈维崧誉为南宋后闺秀第一。有《拙政园诗馀》《拙政园诗集》。

徐灿·《风流子·同素庵感旧》

只如昨日事，

回头想、

早已十经秋。

向洗墨池边，

装成书屋，

蛮笺象管，

别样风流。

残红院、

几番春欲去，

却为个人留。

宿雨低花，

轻风侧蝶，

水晶帘卷，

恰好梳头。

西山依然在，

知何意凭槛，

怕举双眸。

便把红萱酿酒，

只动人愁。

谢前度桃花，

休开碧沼，

旧时燕子，

莫过朱楼。

悔煞双飞新翼，

误到瀛洲。

Xu Can

It’s just like looking back on yesterday’s events,

Though they must already be ten years past.

By the ink-washing pool

We built a study,

Where Sichuan paper and ivory brushes

Brought a special romantic freedom.

Several times spring almost left our yard of dying blossoms,

But stayed behind for our sake.

The night rain weighed down the flowers,

The light breeze tilted the butterflies;

And when the crystal blinds were rolled up

It was time to comb my hair.

The western hills are still here:

Do they know why I’m leaning against the balustrade,

Afraid to raise my eyes?

That even if I brew wine with the daylily,

It will only stir my grief?

I bid the peach blossoms of former days

Not to bloom in the green pond,

The swallows of old times

Not to pass the vermilion tower.

Ah, how regrettable that those newly joined wings

Should have mistakenly flown to Fairy Isle!
