徐灿，字湘蘋，又字明霞、明深，江苏吴县（今苏州市吴中区、相城区）人。陈之遴继配。幼颖悟，通书史。陈之遴两次流徙，均曾随行。康熙十年（1671），奉旨归之遴之骨。晚年学佛，更号紫?。早年雅好吟咏，尤喜为词。被词人陈维崧誉为南宋后闺秀第一。有《拙政园诗馀》《拙政园诗集》。

徐灿·《踏莎行·初春》

芳草才芽，

梨花未雨。

春魂已作天涯絮。

晶帘宛转为谁垂，

金衣飞上樱桃树。

故国茫茫，

扁舟何许。

夕阳一片江流去。

碧云犹叠旧河山，

月痕休到深深处。

Pear blossoms not yet battered down by rain,

But spring’s soul is already a catkin at the edge of the sky.

The crystal curtain is softly hanging but for whom?

Orioles fly up to the cherry tree.

Vast and dim is the bygone kingdom,

Where may the small boat be?

A stretch of setting sunlight flows away with the stream.

Slate clouds still shroud the old rivers and hills;

May the moon’s tracks not reach that deep, deep spot!
