The question of whether liberal arts or science is of greater importance has always been under discussion. When you ask different people about it, they will invariably give different answers. 1

Some people believe that liberal arts is more important because arts is about human and mind, and history created by the men with great mind. For instance, the laws and regulations formulated by them guarante the smooth running of the society. Besides, the diverse cultures and habitudes derived from arts in different regions eventually give rise to various nations. All of these lay the foundation for the development of our society. 2 However, others argue that science counts more than arts because science and technology drive the society to move forward. For example, our ancestors learned to cultivate crops and use the fire through science in the beginning and then managed to invent sundry tools to promote living conditions. 3

In my opinion, I have a preference for science, with which human beings create the material life and moral life as well. 4 But if we only rely on science, sometimes we may still be unable to solve some problems. Therefore, we should be trained in science from a humanistic approach. 5
