Children’s growth is always accompanied by their family, but nowadays the media plays a more and more important role in their daily life. 1 Therefore, the topic on which of them influences children more greatly sparks a heated debate. 2
Some think a family has a subtle influence on children’s personality, the outlook on life and the way of doing things because of the kinship and domestic intercourse. 3 But others believe that the media is a bigger influence on the three aspects above because the mass media are more frequently exposed to children in their daily life, such as newspaper, broadcast, TV shows, and Internet, which provide almost all kinds of information. 3
As far as I am concerned 4 , I would like to take the side of the former for two more reasons. One 4 is that parents help children with refining what is real and valuable from the tremendous amount of information from the mass media. The second 4 is that compared with the mass media, face-to-face communication proved to be the most direct and efficient way of promoting emotions of children. Thus, family can influence the children in the way that media cannot. 4
孩子的成长总是伴随着家人，而现如今媒体在他们的日常生活中也扮演着越来越重要的角色。因此，有关两者中哪一个对孩子的影响更大的话题引发了人们的热议。
因为血缘的关系和家庭成员之间的往来，一些人认为家庭对孩子的性格、人生观以及处事方式有着潜移默化的影响。然而另一部分人认为媒体在上述三个方面对孩子的影响更大，因为孩子在他们的日常生活中会更频繁地接触大众媒体（如报纸、广播、电视节目和网络等），这些媒介几乎可以提供所有的信息。
就我个人的观点而言，我更倾向于前者。除上述原因以外还有两点：一是家长可以帮助孩子从大众媒体提供的海量信息中提炼真实和有价值的东西。二是与大众媒体相比，家庭成员之间的面对面的沟通被证明是促进孩子感情发展的最直接和最有效的方式。因此，家庭可以用一种媒体无法做到的方式来影响孩子。
