The 93-year-old monarch is said to have made an “unusual effort” to welcome the former “Suits” actress to the royal family, following her wedding to Prince Harry last spring.

“Meghan seems to have forged a particularly close relationship with the Queen if you compare that to when other people have married into the royal family,” royal commentator Duncan Larcombe recently told The Sun.

A month after Meghan and Harry’s royal nuptials, the newly minted Duchess of Sussex, 38, joined the Queen for an outing in Cheshire, where they arrived by the royal train.

“The Queen last year in the first few months of Meghan’s entry into the royal family, made a particular and slightly unusual effort to welcome her in,” Larcombe said. “Unusual in the context of the trip on the royal train to do a royal engagement. I’m 99 percent sure she’s never afforded that offer to [sister-in-law] Kate [Middleton].”

Larcombe said the Queen’s efforts could potentially stem from “lessons of the past,” saying Princess Diana, “felt like an outsider in the royal family.”

Harry’s late mother, whose divorce from Prince Charles was finalized in 1996, died the following year after being involved in a car crash in Paris.
