我要请你千万，千万记住，不是一定要抓住听众的注意，而是一定要抓住有利的注意。请留意我说的是“有利的”注意。有理性的人决不会一开口就侮辱听众，或说些教人憎恶、讨厌的言语，让他们群起反对他，反对他的言论。然而，演讲的人却常常会以下面两种方式之一来吸引注意，那是十分不明智的。Please, please, I urge you, remember that you must not only capture the attention of your audience, but you must capture their favorable attention. Please note that I said favorable attention. No rational person would begin a talk by insulting his audience or by making any obnoxious or disagreeable statement that would turn them against him and his message. Yet how frequently speakers begin talks by attracting attention through the use of one of the following devices.
