The woman who accused Marvel actor Jonathan Majors of assaulting her in New York in March was arrested Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of assault and criminal mischief in connection with the domestic dispute, but she will not face prosecution.

Grace Jabbari was arrested Wednesday evening and given a desk appearance ticket requiring her to address the charges in court at a later date, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed to EW.

However, Manhattan prosecutors told EW on Thursday that they will not be pursuing her case any further. "The matter is now closed and sealed."

In a statement to EW, Jabbari's attorney Ross Kramer lamented that his client "had to face an arrest that the Manhattan District Attorney's Office already determined was unwarranted," adding, "The DA's Office carefully reviewed all the facts of the case and concluded that Ms. Jabbari was the victim, and not the perpetrator."

Kramer also said the DA's office "made clear that they would not be charging Ms. Jabbari with any offense" prior to her arriving at the police precinct. He continued, "It is unfortunate and re-traumatizing when a survivor of intimate partner violence is forced to endure an arrest, but Ms. Jabbari is an extremely strong and resilient person who is determined to move forward."

An attorney for Majors, Dustin Pusch, criticized the DA's office for deciding "unilaterally and without explanation" not to prosecute Jabbari. In a statement provided to EW, Pusch also called it "a serious injustice that the District Attorney continues to move forward with its case against [Majors]."

Majors filed a domestic violence complaint against Jabbari, his former girlfriend, in June, according to an incident report obtained by Insider. The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Creed 3 star reportedly alleged that Jabbari had caused him to bleed after scratching, slapping, and grabbing at his face. He also claimed that she had attacked him in the past, referencing a "verbal dispute in London that became physical."

Three months prior to Majors' complaint, he was arrested in and charged with multiple misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment after Jabbari alleged that he twisted her arm, struck her head and ear, and shoved her into a vehicle during a domestic dispute in Manhattan. She was treated for "minor injuries to her head and neck" at a local hospital and later granted a full temporary restraining order against Majors.

The actor has denied the allegations against him. "From the beginning, we have said Jonathan Majors is innocent and provably the victim here," his attorney Priya Chaudhry said in a statement to EW in June.
