Of all the things the future promised, artificially-generated fart jokes were probably not at the top of the list, but here we are.

George Carlin, may he rest...but chances are he's not, as his voice is being used in a "new" stand-up special from Dudesy, a comedy artificial intelligence that hosts a podcast of the same name with actual humans Will Sasso and Chad Kultgen.

Dudesy dropped the hourlong Robo-Carlin special on Tuesday, to which the late comedian's daughter denounced in no uncertain terms.

The AI begins the special with a disclaimer, saying that it just wanted "to let you know very clearly that what you’re about to hear is not George Carlin. It’s my impersonation of George Carlin that I developed in the exact same way a human impressionist would."

“I listened to all of George Carlin’s material and did my best to imitate his voice, cadence, and attitude as well as the subject matter I think would have interested him today," the AI continues.

Sure, Carlin had a lot of nuance in his comedy, and nuance is something AI notoriously does not and cannot get, so this sounds like a terrible idea...and it is. To wit, one of the so-called jokes:

"Here’s an idea, how about we give some actual living human comedians a listen to?" Kelly Carlin concluded her statement. "But if you want to listen to the genuine George Carlin, he has 14 specials that you can find anywhere.”
