47课 A thirsty ghost

A public house which was recently bought by Mr.IanThompson is up for sale. Mr.Thompson is going tosell it because it is haunted. He told me that he couldnot go to sleep one night because he heard astrange noise coming from the bar. The nextmorning, he found that the doors had beenblocked by chairs andthe furniture had beenmoved. Though Mr.Thompson had turned thelights off before he went to bed, they were onin the morning. He also said that he had foundfive empty whisky bottles which the ghost must have drunk the night before. When Isuggested that some villagers must have comein for afree drink, Mr.Thompson shook his head.The villagers have told him that they will not accept the pub evenif he gives it away.
