【语法用法】
通常我们习惯的表达方式里都没有in...form，如in popularform(以通俗的形式)，in book form(以书的形式);
good form 和bad form表示“有礼貌和没礼貌”，form前不加a或者the，也不加s;
a new form of book指“一本新型的”，也有some new forms of books的表达方式;
form letter 与 form a letter 有所不同。前者表示“依照固定格式印成或打成或写成的(发给许多人的)信”，后者表示“正式的信”。
【词义辨析】
list, catalog(ue), register, roll, schedule, table, chart, form
这些名词均含“名单、目录、表格”之意。
list最普通用词，含义广。指按字母顺序、时间先后或类别等排列的姓名或项目等的单子。
catalog(ue)指列出有全部队名、物名或项目等的目录，有时指附有简要说明的分类名单或一览表。
register多指官方对人或事作出的正式书面记录或详细清单。
roll多指人员的姓名名单，尤指属于团体或军事单位的全体人员名单。
schedule既可指时间或计划的安排表，又可指详细列出的所有分类项的清单或细表。
table普通用词，一般指易于迅速查阅使用，具有特定编排方法的目录或表格。
chart指把资料制成表格等形式供人看的图表。
form指上面印有横线或格让人填写规定内容的表格。
mould, forge, form, shape
这些动词均有“使成形”之意。
mould通常指把有延展性的材料浇铸或塑成所需形状的物品。
forge意义较窄，指用锤子和砧对金属材料进行加工或锻造。
form通常指对尚未成形的物品作进一步加工，使成为成品。
shape比mould使用广泛，指用许多不同的方法制成不同形状的制品。

【语法用法】
effort指“努力”时，后面跟不定式。
His effort to reform her at length succeeded.

effort指“作品”时，后面跟at和动名词或名词。
This is his effort at depicting the peasants.
这是他描绘农民的一幅作品。
effort指“努力”时，是抽象名词，不可直接用于make后。只能以an effort，efforts，every efforts等形式出现;
表示相反的状态时，用without effort或without great effort中，注意是单数effort;
effort可用于以下句型中：Effort has been made to...(不定式)，Effort has been directed to...(介词)或make special effort to...(不定式)等。

翻译: 他毫不费力地擦干净了黑板。
分析: effort在句中指“力气”，是不可数名词。
