The Supreme Old Lord, i.e. Laozi, was a celebrated philosopher from the Spring and Autumn Period. General Zhao was worshipped as the God of Wealth.

　　The third category was made up of historical or legendary figures, including some with unique skills. They were from all walks of life, such as Lord Guan, Hua Tuo, and Lu Ban. Lord Guan, also known as the great general Guan Yu of the Three Kingdoms Period, was noted for his loyalty, courage and integrity; Hua Tuo, a contemporary of Guan Yu, was well known for his medical expertise. Luban, a carpenter, was famous for his excellent carpentry.
