Making Ramen in Beijing is now a profession with a monthly salary of 12,000 yuan, which outnumbers a large proportion of the office workers in the capital.

It is not a unique instance. The salary of a Beijing blue collar worker is reportedly higher than that of a white collar counterpart in many sectors, according to a new investigation conducted by Beijing Youth Daily.
