1. fish or cut bait

字面意思为“钓鱼还是准备鱼饵”，是不是让你想起了中国古语“鱼和熊掌不可兼得”?

cut bait表示“准备鱼饵”，即把鱼饵切成小块的过程。我们知道，钓鱼者通常会把小鱼穿在钓钩上投入水中引诱大鱼，或者直接将切成小块的鱼饵撒入水中。

因此，fish or cut bait的意思就是：如果你打算钓鱼，那就好好钓。如果你不能集中精力，那就别坐在这儿浪费时间了，趁早呆一边儿去，帮我们其他人准备鱼饵吧!

2. up in the air

在俚语词典中，up in the air的解释如下：

3. raise red flags≠举红旗

Something that is a "red flag" is a problem or a concern, one that could lead to danger.

red flag是指那些可能会引发危险的问题或担忧。

所以raise red flags就是“发出危险信号”。

例：

In the past, ships raised red flags to warn other ships of dangerous waters.

过去，船只会升起红色的旗子来提醒其他船只这里有危险水域。
