1. give one a run for one's money ** 挑战;给予某人他所期待或想要的

例 The highly popular former television newscaster is giving the famous Senator a run for his money in an election. She is trailing the Senator by only two percentage points in polls taken of likely voters last week.

2. give sb. a hand with sth. / give sb. a hand ** 帮助某人,助某人一臂之力
