1. go to one's head ** 使某人有醉意;冲昏头脑

解 习语;词义溯源:进入某人的[头脑、智力(head)]

例 We need to do something to bring Wu Jin back to reality. After he won the speaking contest, he got a swelled head and as a result he's not putting as much effort into his homework. If I had known he'd let it go to his head, I would have given the award to another student.

2. go to pot / go to the dogs ** 被损坏;堕落;彻底落魄,破产

解 〈口〉习语;词义溯源:成为[罐、锅(pot)或狗,引申为没用的人(dogs)]

例 When we bought these desks, we were given to understand they'd last for twenty years. Look at them!Only six years and they've already gone to pot!We demand you replace them. Replace them or you'll never get another contract from us.

3. go to the expense of doing sth. / go to the expense ** (为…)花费资金
