1．指示代词有单数（this ，that ）和复数（these ，those ）两种形式。在意义上，this ，these 表示近指；that ，those 表示远指。

I want this book, not that one. 我想要这本书，不是那本。

2．this ，that 用来代替刚提到过的人、物，或刚发生的事情。

I didn't finish homework. This made my mother angry. 我没有完成作业，这让妈妈很生气。

3．this ，that 还可以指在电话中交谈的双方。

Hello, this is Susan. Who is that speaking? 你好，我是苏珊。你是哪位？

4．指示代词在句中作主语、宾语和定语。

a. This is a chair. 这是一把椅子。

b. I like that . 我喜欢那个。

c. These flowers look beautiful. 这些花看起来很漂亮。

5．在含有指示代词的疑问句中，回答要用it和they代替。

What's this /that ? It 's a skirt. 这／那是什么？这／那是一条裙子。

What are these /those ? They are pears. 这些／那些是什么？这些／那些是梨。

this, these靠近我，that, those远离我。

this, that指单数，these, those指复数。

都可用the来代替，请你一定记心里。
