英语幽默:法律上的亲戚

A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position.
As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?"
"Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws."

一对夫妇在一条乡间小路上开车行驶了好几里路，没有说一句话。他们刚刚进行过一场争论，没有人想承认对方对了。

当他们经过一个养着骡子、山羊与猪的农场时，丈夫挖苦地说：“这些是你的亲戚吗？”

“是的，”妻子回答，“法律上的。”

Tips:这里为什么说是法律上的（in-laws)呢？因为在英文中，mother-in-law意指婆婆或岳母，father-in-law意指公公或岳父等……总之这里的in-laws指的是丈夫家的亲戚。
