“suit yourself”不是“适合你自己”，千万别弄错了

反身代词是一种表示反身或强调的代词，由第一人称、第二人称形容词性物主代词或第三人称人称代词宾格形式，词尾加self或selves组成。反身代词可译为"本人"、"本身"，为加强语气，也常译为"亲自"、"自己"。

反身代词oneself根据所指词的人称、性别、单复数等的变化可以有 myself, himself, herself, yourself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves等形式。我们比较熟悉、较为常用的是“myself”。

a.下决心做某事

If you steel yourself to do something, nothing is impossible.

b.坚强地面对某事

You should steel yourself against failure.

由自己作主，自便

suit作动词除了表示适合，适宜于

还翻译为对…方便

所以suit yourself 就翻译为:自便

Suit yourself if you want to eat dinner now.

如果你现在想吃晚餐，那就请自便吧。

My job has been done. To go or not suit yourself!

我的任务完成了，去不去随便你喽!

行为自然，不做作;做自己

The best thing you can do is to go into the interview and just be yourself.

区分：

behave yourself

行为规矩些

Behave yourself or I'll give you a thick ear!

你放规矩一些，不然我就揍你!

表现好或不好，用well或badly表示

比如：

She always behaves well/badly when her friends come to visit.

每当她朋友们来作客时，她总是表现很好/很差。

这个短语通常用于表示不同意某人的观点

告诉某人不要用自己的意见替大家做主

对话：

A:We had a really boring trip.

B:Speak for yourself! I had a wonderful time!

我可不这么想，我玩得很开心!

Speak for yourself, but I think you're totally wrong.

我不同意你的看法，我认为你完全错了。

shut yourself off

把自己封闭起来，断绝与……的联系

When her husband died she seemed to shut herself off from her friends and family.
