什么是“天堂”

什么是“天堂”——

谁住在那里——

他们是“农民”吗——

需要“锄地”吗——

他们是否知道这里是“阿默斯特”——

是否知道，我也正在途中——

他们是否穿着“新鞋”，在“伊甸园”——

那里是否存在永乐——

他们是否会责骂，每当我们想家

或是向上帝报告我们的乖戾——

你确信有那样一个人

形同“父亲”，就在天上——

假如我在那里走失——

或者如护士所言，“死去”——

我也不用赤足，行走在“碧玉”上——

被救赎的人们，不会嘲笑我——

也许“伊甸园”并不像

昔日的新英格兰这般孤寂！

Maybe—“Eden” a’n’t so lonesome

As New England used to be!
